Meet Hinata! This sweet, shy, and sometimes goofy girl is ready to find her forever home! Hinata would do well with an adopter who will be patient and loving and slowly introduce her to new things as she builds her confidence.
Here's what we know about Hinata from her foster parents and doggy foster brother, Ollie!
- Super affectionate - once she's comfortable, prepare to get lots of slobbery kisses.
- 100% potty-trained - no accidents at her foster home at all!
- Crate-trained - can be left alone for up to 5 hours and sleeps through the night.
- Great on a leash - she was a little scared on her first few walks with foster mom, but is now pretty comfortable and has shown no reactivity or prey drive. She even went on a family hike for the first time recently and did really well!
- Food and praise-motivated. Hinata learns quickly and knows "sit", "paw", "stay", "come", and "leave it". She wiggles her butt and gets really excited when foster mom and dad say, "Good job, Hini!"
- Low to medium energy - fine with one 15-20 min walk per day and some playtime.
- Loves to play with resident dog, Ollie. She'd do well with another independent dog that will give her space OR as a solo dog.
Things she's working on:
- Getting comfortable with household noises. Hinata seems more comfortable outside and is learning about unfamiliar things inside, like the loud noise of a blender or a giant stuffie. She's learning quickly and many things that terrified her a few weeks ago are not so scary anymore.
- Learning what's ok to chew, and what's not. She will chew just about anything left out, but is very sensitive to the word "no" and quickly learns what's on/off limits. Hinata would love a mix of toys to explore and nibble on in her next home, and she'll need someone to keep an eye on her when she's exploring new spaces.
- Needs more time to warm up to male strangers. Hinata was pretty scared of foster dad and barked at him for the first few days, but now they are BFFs! Recently she met male friends and showed no reactivity. Slow introductions work best for this shy girl.
Fun facts:
- Hinata loves to play dress up and put on a fun bandana or lady bow.
- This silly girl loves to check herself out in the mirror.
- Always down for a Netflix and chill night. She may even hold your hand!
