Wolfy, a 1.5-year-old hound mix at Oakland Animal Services, has been selected by Search Dog Foundation to be trained to be a search and rescue dog. Wolfy was surrendered to the Shelter in March after his owners had lost their home.
He is an extremely active, high energy dog who was going to be tough to adopt into a family home. This dog needs to work! After watching Wolfy’s intense ball drive, Oakland Animal Services contacted Search Dog Foundation to see if they would test him. They sent two of the volunteers to the Shelter and he past all of their tests with flying colors.
Search Dog Foundation will now professionally train Wolfy and then partner him firefighters and other first responders at no cost to their departments. They will ensure lifetime care for him so he will never need to be rescued again.
