If you know of a dead animal on public property that needs to be removed, complete the form below. We are experiencing a severe staffing shortage and a high volume of calls, so the response time may be longer than expected. If the animal has not been picked up within seven days, please complete this form again and we will re-prioritize the request. If you do not include your contact information we may not be able to pick up the animal. If it is a small animal, you may want to consider placing the deceased animal in a plastic bag and discarding it in your trash bin or bringing it to the shelter.
If you find a small dead animal (domestic or wild less than 10 pounds) on private property, call 510-535-5602, Monday-Friday 11am-1pm, Saturday and Sunday 9-11am to request removal. Leave a message at other times.
We pick up large domestic animals and wildlife on private property for a fee. If the animal is on private property, come into the shelter during open hours and pre-pay for the pick up. The cost is $62 and may be more if the animal requires more than one person to lift.
Please note that we cannot pick up dead animals under private homes, decks or down slopes.
California Fish and Wildlife may be able to pick up dead wildlife from your property. Contact them to learn more.
