There are animals throughout Oakland in backyards, basements and sheds who are hidden and neglected. We often only find out about these animals who need our help from compassionate citizens who let us know or when Oakland Police Officers make entry to a residence for another reason and discover the animals .
Yesterday, Oakland Police Officers were performing a probation search when they came upon seven dogs and called us. Animal Control Officers responded and rescued the dogs from a life of starvation and confinement. The dogs were living in mud and were on thick metal chains.
If you know of an animal in Oakland who needs help, please call 510-535-5602. We do respond to anonymous reports.
