Join us this Sunday, April 30, from 12-2 as we celebrate our new murals. More details here. Adoption fees will be waived on Sunday to also celebrate national-adopt-a-shelter pet! (Standard adoption screening will still apply.)
Help us celebrate the murals that have been installed at Oakland Animal Services, our municipal shelter and an outstanding animal welfare facility thanks to community participation. OAS is an open admissions shelter, and accepts all homeless, injured, orphaned, lost, and surrendered animals including pets, farm, exotic, and native wildlife animals.
Thanks to the artists who have generously volunteered their time and created murals at the shelter! The uplifting imagery have made a huge difference in boosting adoptions and creating a pleasant environment for both potential adopters and our animals. We aren’t done yet! Phase 2 is still to come and we need your help! Donate to Paw Power!
Paw Power! Mural Project Artists include: Claire Brees, Renee Castro, Nancy Mizuno Elliott, Claude Förster, Russel de Leon, Laurel Nathanson, Robert Minervini, David Polka, and Michael Wertz
Below are some of the completed murals installed at the shelter. Come by during open hours to view the artwork and visit our adoptable animals (perhaps bring home a new family member).
