Tahini is a gem of a pup. Tahini is a great companion for humans and dogs alike.
Tahini initially came to the shelter as a stray with another dog. She was very overwhelmed by all of the noises and by being in a kennel. Fortunately, Tahini went to foster. Tahini’s foster is able to bring her to OAS to meet potential adopters any day of the week. See instructions for “Online Adoption Process for Animals in Foster Homes” using the link below.
Tahini’s foster family says Tahini:
- Is house trained and crate trained
- Enjoys playing with other dogs
- Walks well on a leash (can learn more leash manners)
- Loves to be around her foster family and never turns down petting or rubs
- Gets along with the foster resident cat
- Loves to play in water (and be toweled dry). Kiddy pool anyone?
- Good passenger in the car
- Sleeps on her dog bed at night
- Rarely jumps up on the furniture
- Gentle with children of all ages she meets through foster family
- Eating either Hills Science Diet Sensitive Stomach/Skin or Perfect Digestion
As a stray dog brought to OAS, there is no information to help us understand some of Tahini’s behaviors. For example, Tahini often barks when she meets someone new, but most of the time her tail is wagging with excitement. Tahini has a deep, loud bark that is startling from such a sweet and gentle dog. After barking, Tahini quickly warms up to new people.
Tahini will benefit from a home that will be aware of her behavior and help her adjust to her new home. For example, Tahini’s gentle nature can become frightened by a basketball bounced in the house, but she will stay away from it and always remain gentle. If she is stressed a short stay in her crate or chewing a bone and Tahini will be good as new.
Tahini’s foster mom assesses the dog’s energy level as average for a medium size dog. Like most dogs, Tahini needs walks/exercise and stimulation. Tahini enjoys walks and is always on the look-out for squirrels. Her foster family gives her a Kong or non-rawhide bones to meet her stimulation and chewing needs.
The foster mom will be happy to arrange a meeting and answer any questions about this playful and loyal dog.
