Meet Meryl, the delightful senior looking for a furever home! She's as easy-going and sweet as can be. Meryl's favorite things include belly rubs and gentle face and neck scratches. She's an absolute joy to be around and radiates love with her gentle disposition. If you're seeking a wonderful companion to share your life with, Meryl might be the perfect match!
With a chip implanted in 2015, she's estimated to be around 8 years old. Meryl is currently on a weight loss journey and has shed several pounds! Weighing about 90ish lbs, it's important for her hip health that we continue her weight loss plan, which involves a carefully curated diet and regular exercise. Meryl is gradually getting accustomed to navigating deck stairs with grace and confidence.
Ready to embark on her next chapter, this beautiful golden-hearted girl can't wait to find a loving companion like you. She was in a few fosters where she always fit right in, even amidst the company of energetic pups, including a puppy. She an independent gal who could live with other easy going dogs or solo.
Here is what Meryl’s foster told us:
“She's an affectionate, cuddly, and laid-back lady who adores naps, her bed, and spending time with her people. In the apartment, she's quite independent and doesn't follow me around, but if I'm out of sight for an extended period, she may come check on me.
Currently, she shares her space with a 50 lb senior hound, and they get along just fine! She hasn't displayed any resource guarding with her food, is very well-behaved, and knows basic commands such as sit, paw, and lie down.
She walks well on a leash, even when I walk both dogs together! She's patient with the hound, who enjoys sniffing everything. She doesn't pull much but has shown curiosity when passing other dogs - she becomes attentive to watching them.
Squirrels don't seem to interest her, but I don't think she's the biggest fan of cats :)
She is kid-friendly too, as per her previous foster. Meryl is the ultimate family dog who may need a little help with slight anxious behaviors if her family leaves her, but it makes sense given her situation. She's truly a gem and will complete any family!”
